How Often Should You Post To Your Blog
Getting the Most Out Of Your Content Marketing
Blogs have been evolving for years as they are continually used more and more by businesses, individuals, and organizations. They are a great way to increase traffic to your website while providing valuable information to the public about your company, general industry knowledge, or maybe some simple product insights. One thing that gets talked about a lot when it comes to blogs is how often you should post to your blog for maximum exposure and traffic as well as how to get the most out of your content marketing. Let’s talk through this topic from our perspective and our opinion as marketers to help you get some of the answers you might be looking for when it comes time to take your blog to the next level.
We want to start off by saying that every company and business is different. The frequency of one business posting to their blog might be much different than your company depending on multiple factors. For example, a smaller business or company might be able to post less frequently than a larger company – but regardless, both businesses, no matter what size they are, need to be posting.
Why is blogging important for my business?
Blogging on the business side of things is important in many ways – blogs can help your search engine optimization efforts, it can help with product awareness, as well as brand trust. The benefits are endless when it comes to starting a blog for your business. Blogging regularly is proven to bring more traffic into your website – which more traffic to your website will help your SEO (Search Engine Optimization) as time goes on and Google recognizes the importance of your website and business. Just because social media is one of the most popular ways to connect with your audience, don’t let that deter you from the fact that blogs are also a great way to connect with your audience in a unique, and little more in depth way.
How often should you post to your blog?
Ultimately, we do not have a SET number of times a week or month that your business should be publishing out new blogs, but generally speaking for small businesses, 2-4 blogs per week is about where most businesses should be. Larger businesses and corporations might want to consider airing in the 6-8 range of published posts a week in order to maximize content marketing in the best way possible. Keeping content new and fresh on your blog will help you increase new visitors and gives Google tons of new stuff to crawl which will help you maximize your content marketing efforts and build up your business and brand.
What if I run out of things to write about?
This is a valid question in the world of blogging and content marketing – but we want to just encourage you to get creative. Blog content can cover a wide range of information, opinions, personal experiences and more. To help you understand what we mean, we will give you an example… let’s say you own a used car lot and are trying to post a blog 3 times per week. The options are endless when it comes to topics you could write about, you could blog about the advantages to buying a used vehicle, or you could write an article about various things to look for while purchasing a used car. Not to mention you can post weekly updates about new inventory, you could do a monthly or weekly feature of a vehicle that you are trying to sell that includes the vehicle information, statistics, history, images and any other information a reader/buyer might find useful. When you feel like you are beginning to run out of ideas, you can begin to utilize blogs and content that is relevant to your profession while it might not be exactly involved with your profession. Continuing our example, you could write content about the best windshield wipers of 2020, or the best way to prevent rust on your vehicle. As you can see, these topics might not be directly related to or directly in line with used cars or the topic of selling used cars, but it is still going to be valuable information for your audience. That valuable information, although not focused on directly selling your specific product helps with brand recognition, brand trust, and simply getting more people to know who your business is and what they do so that if in the future they have a need for a used car, they know exactly where to go. We haven’t even touched on the idea of content recycling either – it’s always good to revise, adjust, and re-post old content so that it is relevant and up to date as times which is another good way to keep posting to your blog and keep content rolling.
Be sure to maximize your content marketing efforts by utilizing a blog for your business. It might be one of the best steps you can take for your company and marketing strategy.
